	Gili Air - The idea

	The two main islands of this province are Lombok and Sumbawa. Arround Lombok are a view small islands and Gili Air is directly in front of Lombok the first of the three Gili isands. Gili islands are international known. Gili Air is directly in front of Lombok and the first of the three Gilis (view from Lombok) on these photos. Because of beautiful diving areas these islands are worldwide known for diving. From Mataram (capital of Lombok) you drive for little more than half an hour through unique tropical rain forests to Bangsal, harbour for departing traditional boots to three Gili islands. On this road to Bangsal, you can find many wild living monkeys Having reached Bangsal, you can passage over to Gili Air (15 minutes travelling time), Gili Meno (30 minutes) or Gili Trawangan (40 minutes). Our project is realized on the island Gili Air. Indonesia - nearby 13.000 islands counts this land separated by 27 provinces. One of this provinces - Nusa Teggara Barat - (NTB), also known as Small Sunda Islands, includes Bali and eastern islands till Timor. Gili Air is a 173 hectare island with 1400 inhabitants, arround 250 children are visiting the island school (S.D. elementary school).	Satellite photos of Gili Air, Gili Meno, Gili Trawangan
	Gili Air is a 173 hectare island, has 1.400 grown up inhabitants and 250 children. Inhabitants are from Sulawesi originally and are called "Orang Bugis" in own language. You can circle round Gili Air in approximately ninety minutes by feet. Nowhere on the wourld you find so friendly and open minded inhabitants as on this island, each new arriving person, if Indonesian or tourist, is very welcome. Cultivation of cocnut trees, fishing and tourism are main source of income for many Gili Air's inhabitants. Every year 40 000 overnight stays are sold to tourists. Hotels range is from cheap Losman, (cheap possibility to sleep) until small traditional hotels. In front of the island is one of the wourld famous reefs. Diver and snorkeling guests from oll over the wourld want to visit the beautiful corals and fishes. Because of special underwater environment the number of visitors is increasing constantly. To protect this only one island, holding on the kindness of the inhabitants and save all for next generations, DIV e.V. initiates a foundation named L.K.G.A. or LUMBUNG KAMBUNG JAYA INDAH GILI AIR. It is a concept of EAF e.V. and DIV e.V for inhabitants of Gili Air to tackle current and future problems of this tourist region.
	EAF e.V. and DIV e.V. assists L.K.G.A. by creating further possibilities to get fresh water, establishing a hospital and federating a school for tele-learning.
